Before & After
Wall Reconstruction:
-
Demolition and Excavation:
The existing deteriorated retaining wall was carefully demolished. Excavation was performed to establish a stable foundation, ensuring proper soil compaction and drainage.
-
Foundation Construction:
A new reinforced concrete footing was poured, adhering to local building codes for load-bearing structures.
-
Wall Construction:
The new retaining wall was constructed using brick, natural stone. Reinforcement steel was integrated as needed for structural integrity, particularly for walls exceeding a specific height.
-
Drainage Implementation:
A perforated drainage pipe was installed behind the wall, along with a gravel backfill, to prevent hydrostatic pressure buildup. Weeping holes were incorporated into the wall's design to facilitate water runoff.
-
Capping and Finishing:
The top of the wall was capped with brick for a finished appearance and to protect the wall from water infiltration.
Paving Installation:
-
Sub-Base Preparation:
The existing paving was removed, and the sub-grade was leveled and compacted. A geotextile fabric was laid to prevent soil migration and ensure sub-base stability. A compacted layer of crushed aggregate was installed as the sub-base, ensuring proper drainage and load distribution.
-
Laying Course:
A leveling layer of sand was spread and compacted to create a uniform laying course for the pavers.
-
Paver Installation:
Brick pavers were laid precisely, ensuring consistent joint widths and a level surface.
-
Jointing and Compaction:
Paver joints were filled with kiln-dried sand and compacted to prevent movement and weed growth. The entire paved surface was compacted using a plate compactor to ensure stability.
-
Edge Restraints:
Edge restraints were installed to prevent lateral movement of the pavers and ensure a clean, finished edge.
-
Sealing:
A sealant was applied to the paved surface to enhance durability and protect against stains and weathering.
